Rules and Regulations
Airfares, Insurance, Travelling expenses

Airfares: It is compulsory for the family to pay for the airfares of the au-pair (this only applies for au-pairs in the Netherlands).

Travelling expenses: It is compulsory for the family to provide the au-pair with a discount travel pass for either bus or train; the remaining costs for transportation are at au-pair’s expense. Some families have a personal car available for the au-pair. Families are only entitled to pay for fuel for work related activities.

Health insurance: This is compulsory in the Netherlands. This is the family’s responsibility and will also be at the family’s expense. For more information on this see Insurances.
The rest of the au-pairs going to other countries we will help you take care of this as every country is different.

Mobile phones: Every au-pair must be given a mobile phone during her stay. The au-pair is entitled to € / $ / £ 15 per month. We advise the family to provide a pre-paid mobile (this is safer than a contract). The au-pairs' mobile phone is for her and the children’s safety.

House phones and faxes: The au-pair should have access to the house phone (within reason) but if she chooses to call outside the country it is at her own expense. We recommend Skype* for long distance calls.

* Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. Calls to other users of the Skype service are free. You download the program for free off the internet.
